PromptCare’s clinical monitoring and support keeps patients on track
PromptCare delivers compassionate, timely, and cost-effective immunoglobulin therapy (IVIG and SCIG) to patients with immune deficiencies, autoimmune diseases, and neurological conditions. Whether at home or in one of our infusion suites, you receive expert support with:
Ig therapy, either administered intravenously (IVIg) or subcutaneously (SCIg), is used to treat patients whose bodies don’t make enough antibodies, or patients whose immune system attacks a certain type of cell or protein in the body. Immunoglobulin therapy helps supply patients with necessary antibodies using a solution made from the blood plasma of healthy donors.
IVIg and SCIg therapies provide the extra antibodies that patients’ bodies cannot make on their own to treat conditions like:
A typical IVIg infusion, whether at home or in a PromptCare infusion suite, typically takes one hour for every 10 grams of medication prescribed. Most infusions last a few hours, but the length can vary depending on your care plan. SCIg takes about an hour to administer.
Fortunately, most adverse reactions to IVIg are mild and require minimal intervention. PromptCare nurses are with patients every step of the way during their infusion, closely monitoring for any side effects. Most reactions occur within the first 30 to 60 minutes of an infusion. The most common reactions include low-grade fever, headache, skin rash, or mild nausea. IVIg is an effective, safe, and well-tolerated therapy for most patients. PromptCare nurses will carefully assess patients, ensure proper IVIg administration, and make sure patients are well hydrated, which can significantly reduce the likelihood of adverse reactions.
IVIg (intravenous immunoglobulin) and SCIg (subcutaneous immunoglobulin) are both forms of Ig replacement therapy. IVIg is administered directly into the bloodstream through an IV, while SCIg is injected into the fatty tissue just beneath the skin. Both are administered under the careful supervision of a trained PromptCare nurse. Both therapies are considered safe and effective, and are generally well-tolerated by most patients.
